Why watch Unicorn?

  • Garrick Theatre will host the world premiere of Mike Bartlett's fresh new drama, Unicorn. Join the award-winning duo of Bartlett and James MacDonald for the third time after their collaboration on Cock and Wild.
  • The play's characters are multi-dimensional and realistic; they deal with issues like envy, fragility, and the search for happiness. Star Nicola Walker says, “Mike Bartlett’s Unicorn is that rare beast you long to see, it’s grown-up and unusual and very, very funny.”
  • If you enjoyed Waiting for Godot, get your fill of James MacDonald’s directorial acumen in this strictly adult peek into a modern marriage. The play delves into the issue of polyamory, keeping up with Bartlett’s history of delving into fresh and exciting new themes.
  • Don’t let the name confuse you: Unicorn is an adventurous, sexually exploratory glimpse into marriage and polyamory. Book your ticket for an explicit, funny and provocative show!

Explore the complexities of love beyond conventional norms and examine whether it's possible for a single individual to meet all of our wants in Unicorn. Bartlett's screenplay delves into the complexity of human connection, providing a nuanced exploration of polyamory that is filled with comedy, sadness, and unfiltered honesty.

This star-studded crew of Nicola Walker (Unforgotten, The Split), Stephen Mangan (The Split, Episodes) and Erin Doherty (The Crown, Chloe) ask the tough questions: why is commitment important? In what ways is love ever really equal? With the Garrick Theatre as its backdrop, every hushed confession and heated exchange rings true in this intimate and thought-provoking drama. You are pulled into the story's emotional core by the language and performances, which are brought to life by the arresting direction and minimalist set.

Storyline
