Matilda features the spectacular combination of Dahl’s plucky heroine, a moving script by the Bafta-nominated writer Dennis Kelly and hilarious words and music by Australian comedian Tim Minchin. He makes this a treat your children will remember forever. The beautiful set is wonderfully utilized by the show’s director Matthew Warchus, who has created a musical rich in stage magic that appeals to every age. In fact, adults will enjoy and appreciate the show’s clever humour and wordplay just as much as kids.
The production design by Rob Howell and choreographed by Peter Darling play a huge role in making Matilda what it is. Hugh Vanstone created the show’s extraordinarily atmospheric lighting, helping set the perfect mood for every story beat.
Matilda’s parents believe she is a nuisance while she thinks they are only interested in watching the television. Life at school isn't much better thanks to the monstrous headmistress Miss Trunchbull. The headmistress terrifies both students and teachers alike until one day Matilda discovers she has a very special power. She decides it's time to teach the grown-ups a lesson. She also develops an unlikely friendship with her teacher Miss Honey, who admires Matilda’s intellect and almost magical abilities. As the plot progresses, the musical explores the relationship between Matilda and Miss Honey, and Matilda’s desire for freedom.

The musical was great however the show time had changed and you never informed us of this, I checked all my emails including junk/spam, because of this we missed 30minutes of the start which my daughter was extremely upset about. I would book directly through the theatre in future.
Great show with lots of fun, talent and catchy songs. The stage sets and performers were mega and the vibes were very good. Unfortunately, I found the background noise from the audience, which consisted of a restless and prolonged rustling of snacks, a little annoying. I found this disrespectful not only to the ensemble, but also to the audience.

We know the story very well, our daughter (10y) read the book several times, wachted the movie and musical also several times. That's also why we chose this musical so she would understand the most of it (we are not anglophone). The whole experience of the musical still got to me; had to wipe a tear at the end. We loved it!
Staff were rather friendly and helpful, and the show was absolutely incredible! The actors and actresses were so talented and energetic it was lovely to watch
Everything was top-notch! The adaptation of the film, the actors (all brilliant, starting with the actress playing Mathilda), the direction, the special effects and the songs.
